Tax Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities

• Advising Canadian and foreign corporations on the domestic and foreign tax matters
• Developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely and responsive service
• Exhibiting an understanding of complex tax concepts and applying this knowledge to practical situations
• Representing clients to the taxation authorities in the course of tax audits, appeals and other matters

Qualifications

• An accounting designation or law degree
• A Masters in Taxation or the CICA In-depth Tax Course (This is an asset but not essential.)
• A minimum of 3 years of experience specializing in income tax matters
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• An ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• A strong commitment to professionalism and client service

Auditor

Position Description

We are looking for someone with 3-5 years of accounting firm experience. As the successful candidate, you need to be comfortable doing audits, familiar with the various tax software and you need to possess solid communication and organizational skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Initiating and completing audits, walkthroughs, review engagements, etc…
• Completing review notes and ensuring proper documentation
• Establishing and maintaining solid relationships with our clients
• Eventually being able to initiate and bring in business
• Supervising and coaching more junior staff members.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of auditing experience
• Experience with the various software including Tax Prep, DT Max, Caseware and Caseview
• Proficiency in Excel
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven abilities to multi-task and take initiative
• ideally having completed or working towards your CA, CGA or CMA designation

Each year, Bessner Gallay Kreisman hires students for either internships or full time opportunities. We are always looking for talented and bright individuals who are working towards an accounting designation to work for us for either a summer opportunity, fall internship or a full-time opportunity in either September 2011, January 2012 or May 2012.

Interns/summer hires are given opportunities to roll up their sleeves and get involved with a variety of client mandates. They quickly are able to relate their practical experience to what they have been studying in school.

Our on-campus activities begin in early September 2011 so, over the course of the summer, check out the dates of where we will be visiting and the application deadlines. We also have company tours/cocktails so consult the local universities for more information concerning these events.
